Real Housewives of Salt Lake City has been renewed for a second season, leaving fans to wonder which housewives will stay and which will be fired.
Season 1 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City made a splash when it began airing on Bravo this past fall. Given the show’s instant success, Bravo’s recent announcement that the show would be renewed for a second season did not come as a shock. Though the show’s season 1 reunion is still yet to air, fans and casual viewers alike have started speculating on what season two of RHOSLC will entail, taking guesses on anything from which housewives might be fired from the show to when it might be released.
In spite of complaints of low ratings, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City undoubtedly brought lots of heightened drama to Bravo during its thirteen-episode run, featuring everything from heated debates about the tenants of Mormonism to inter-cast cheating scandals. Though it would be unfair to say any of the housewives slacked when bringing the drama this season, there are a few who stand out as less likely to make the cut for season 2.

While Mary Cosby did come into season one with a bang, running an inherited Mormon temple and showing off in designer hand-me-downs, her star power seemed to dwindle as the show went on and her borderline incestuous marriage turned a lot of viewers off. Consequently, her future on the show seems uncertain at best. Likewise, Meredith Marks and Lisa Barlow both failed to bring anything notable to the series. Not only did they both lack an interesting or impactful storyline. They both fell short in the “lifestyle porn” category as well, providing a stark contrast to series stars Jen Shah, Whitney Rose, and Heather Gay, who are almost sure to stay on the show given their enviable lifestyles, fun family dynamics, and compelling backstories.
Although there hasn’t been any word from Bravo or Andy Cohen as to when the second season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City will air, there are several things that could potentially factor in. The first would be the ensuing Covid-19 pandemic. As the first season was filmed pre-Covid, it is uncertain how the pandemic will impact the filming process of season 2. If other Real Housewives franchises are anything to go off of, RHOSLC will still film through the pandemic, though safety measures will be taken and the filming process is likely to take longer as a result. Based off of the turnaround of The Real Housewives of Dallas’ latest season, which was filmed entirely during the lockdown, fans should be able to expect RHOSLC’s second season in January or February of 2022, roughly a year after part three of the reunion airs.
No matter what casting or filming decisions Bravo ultimately makes, season 2 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City is certain to be a hit with fans. Not only does the show’s proximity to Mormonism give it a unique appeal, but the women of Salt Lake City seem to know how to cause drama like no one else. Season 1 of the show was pure reality TV gold, and things are sure to only get better from here.
