Universal Pictures released a new Super Bowl TV spot for Fast & Furious 9 showing Han’s return, but it doesn’t include the film’s release date.
A new TV spot for F9 debuted ahead of the Super Bowl. Right near the beginning of 2020, Universal Pictures kicked off the marketing campaign for Fast & Furious 9 in style. They assembled the cast for a huge public event and debuted the first trailer online and in front of the crowd simultaneously. This is where fans of the Fast & Furious franchise learned the movie will include the debut of John Cena as Dominic Toretto’s secret brother Jakob. But, it also included the surprise reveal that F9 brings Han back too.
All of the excitement from the F9 trailer seemingly came at the perfect time, with the movie slated to hit theaters a few months later. However, the coronavirus pandemic dramatically altered these plans. Universal elected to delay Fast & Furious 9 a full year so it would come out in May 2021. This wasn’t just disappointing news for Fast & Furious fans ready for the next installment, but it also significantly delayed when a new trailer would arrive. Fans continued to wonder when new footage will arrive as speculation mounted that Universal might have to delay F9 again due to the state of the pandemic.
Now, Universal Pictures has treated fans to a brand new look at Fast & Furious 9 ahead of the Super Bowl. The 30 second TV spot for the Big Game showcases some brand new footage for the highly anticipated blockbuster. And as exciting as the new teaser is, it is important to point out that it does not include a release date. Check out the TV spot below:
